Launch day, vR101, and the demo trail that still explains radar and bows.

Updates Hub

Warlord: Awaji left Steam as a full release on 9 September 2026. Darkmatter Games did not park the campaign in Early Access. The first live build players actually boot already sits on years of demo work, and the first numbered patch, vR101, landed in the launch window to stop the tutorial from sending people into the wrong settlement.

This hub is the news desk. The long changelog lives on patch notes. Come here when a prompt looks wrong, when pause time crawls, or when someone still talks about the farm as if that objective string exists.

Launch day, then vR101

Launch is the product: a heightmap of Awaji Island, a camp you can pack, named retainers, first-person melee, bows, horses, shrines, and a single-player campaign with Steam Cloud and 57 achievements. The store price sits around $24.99 with a short introductory -10% cut. A soundtrack DLC ships beside the game if you want the score without another campaign.

vR101 is the first please-stop-bouncing-off-the-tutorial pass. In short it:

  • Moved the player closer to the nearby homestead so the lesson stays on one settlement.
  • Added a note asking you to confirm you are attacking the correct homestead.
  • Lowered the homestead distance check to 70 meters.
  • Increased starting resources slightly after players overbuilt tents.
  • Removed leftover K and J debug buttons.
  • Made capture, charge, and battle-mode steps non-sequential so capturing first no longer soft-locks the lesson.
  • Replaced the capture-the-farm string with capture the nearby homestead.
  • Stopped the pause menu from letting world time crawl forward.

If your copy still says farm, or if the clock ticks while you read, update through Steam before you rewrite a getting started plan. The controls page is the next stop if radar or highlights look off after the patch.

Read the full list, not this index

Open patch notes for the complete vR101 wording and the demo-era systems that still explain live tools. This index stays short on purpose. It is a map, not a second changelog you have to diff by hand.

After you patch, the practical pages are combat, camp building, and army and formations. vR101 changed how you enter the campaign. It did not change how a yari feels in a crowd or how a night watch fails.

System requirements only move if Steam changes the store spec. The tier list hub only moves if a later patch actually touches weapons or AI. Do not reshuffle yari versus tachi because the spawn walked closer to a homestead.

Demo lineage, briefly

The demo is not the current game. It is the fossil record that still answers launch-week questions:

  • Demo 1.1 added radar and a cleaner sense of who is in front of you.
  • The Steam Next Fest build added optional character highlights, a level 13 armor color, and a chance for spears and naginata to break instead of drop when stamina is gone.
  • Demo 2.0 added horses and mounted AI, bows and ranged AI, five arrow types, a yabusame track, and a taste of a warrior’s mansion, plus physics work aimed at large battles.

Those notes still matter because players ask where radar came from, why silhouettes can be blue or red, and when bows showed up. They are history, not a download you should hunt for. The live campaign, the soundtrack DLC, and the current patch sit on the Steam store. Dev talk still lands on the Darkmatter Discord and darkmattergames.com.

If you are here because a bow, a horse, or a highlight option feels new, jump to bow and cavalry after you finish the homestead. If you are here because a shrine fight is eating the frame rate, the physics work from Demo 2.0 is the ancestor of that load; the live advice lives on the tools hub and system requirements.

How this wiki tracks patches

When Darkmatter posts a Steam news item, we update patch notes first, then the guide that taught the old string. Walkthrough and conquest only change if an objective, spawn, or shrine rule actually moved. Review is not a changelog.

This site is unofficial. Bookmark Steam news and Discord if you want the first copy of a bullet. Then come back here for the player-facing version: which tutorial step broke, which menu no longer advances time, and which demo leftover still explains a live button.

Launch-week player snags that are not patch bullets — no autosave, a 21-man first column, stuck 6/9 tutorial — live on troubleshooting. If a homestead prompt, a pause clock, or a missing debug key is your problem today, skip the rest of the wiki and open patch notes. That page is the launch-week source of truth; this hub is only the signpost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new warlords landing on Awaji.

What is the latest Warlord: Awaji patch?

Launch-window patch vR101. The full bullet list is on patch notes, not on this index.

No. It is a tutorial, resource, debug-key, and pause-clock pass. Keep using combat and army for the live fight.

Where do official patch posts go?

Steam news for the app, plus Discord. This wiki is unofficial and will follow those posts rather than invent a Trello.
